Finally found a local CBX. 1981, two owners, less than 12k on the clock. Almost immaculate.

Sticky rear brake, and minimal heat in cylinder 1, although #1 has 120 psig compression and strong spark.
So off to the Carb section I go.

Like bikes of all types; as long as you ride, I don't care what you ride. Just ride. And if you get hurt or old, trikes are cool too!

Although I have >1 million miles on bikes, the goal is >1 million on bikes currently in the stable so when I open shop doors I can say, "I did it. 1 million here."

Hey, it's good to have goals, yes?

Bike wise, have several.

• Did a patina resto on a BMW 1969 R60/2
  Almost concourse resto on a BMW 1963 R69s
  Resto 1979 KZ1300 Kawasaki (which is why I HAD to buy this CBX!)
  1987 ATK with Xr600 Honda power plant
  1978 Yamaha 125 Enduro
  2000 Yz426 from the motocross days
  2006 Yamaha FJR (235k miles and going strong)
  2013 Yamaha FJR (young pup at 18k miles)
  2007 Suzuki DL650 w/ ABS (closing in 100k miles)
  1991 HD UltraClassic >120k miles and running strong!

All of these were bought new or were family/friends bikes. Both BMW's were my Uncle Dutch's. On my first 'big' ride, 1974, (Honda CB750, Wixom fairing/bags) to Canada he experienced weird symptoms. And died 6 months later, brain cancer. I bought both BMW's from my Aunt in 1975. Welcome! Another old BMW/CBX guy! I've got a '59 R50 and am restoring a '55 R69 right now. Very different from the CBX. Anyway, you need a complete carb rebuild, I'm sure, as well as complete front and rear brake/caliper/master cylinder rebuild. A fork rebuild likely too. Check steering bearings and rear shock linkage - the pivots will be dry. Carefully evaluate the rear shock. Make sure it's not leaking oil, air it up to 65 lbs and see if it holds. If not - junk it and get aftermarket. Keep us posted.

Like Dave said, rebuild front and rear calipers and both MC. You should be able to still get it from Honda. Online i use Partzilla or local dealer. Same for fork seals.
