Sport kit is low bars and rearsets and all associated parts to install. 422 is the Honda code for '79 CBX parts and 469 is the code for the '80.

The VIN number and build date on your bike does not tell me anything other than it fits perfectly in the grand scheme of things. I have no other history on record. Yours is the only 1980 CBX in SA that I have a record of.

The 1979 CBX is also known as CBX-Z, the 1980 is a CBX-A, the 1981 a CBX-B and the 1982 a CBX-C. this is how Honda identified the different models.
Some also use the first letters of the chassis or VIN number as an identification: The 1979 CBX as CB-1, the 1980 CBX as SC03 and the 1981 and 1982 CBX as SC06.
Honda uses a part-number system with a number consisting of 5 digits for the specific kind of part - followed by 3 digits for the model the part was first released for and this followed by 3 digits for a variation of the part.
The middle three digits are -422- for the 1979 CBX, -469- for the 1980 CBX and -MA2- for the 1981 and 1982 CBX.

What puzzles me with your bike is, that you say "km". Does the bike have a speedometer/odometer calibrated in km? Being a U.S. bike it should have a mph instrument.
I really don't know right know, if the Canadian bikes had a km instrument or the same as the U.S. in mph with a secondary km scale.

Canadian bikes came with a speedo calibrated in km/h primary and miles per hour secondary. Top speed was 240 km/h, although you'd have to drop it out of an airplane to ever see that.

Is this true for 1980 bikes also? Especially for the ones made in the USA?

My 1980 was US built and has the 240 km speedometer.

Hi Ryno, welcome. Glad you got sorted with the headlight stay. I'm still after one for my '79. So if you see another, please let me know.

We generally get the euro / UK spec bikes here but there seem to be the odd US imports that were brought in. Mine seems to be one of those too, but the previous owner put the lower bars on but not the more rear set foot plates.

I managed 220ish kph on my Z back in the summer of '78. Still my personal best.

Hello , Hondaline Super Sport kit that was installed by the dealer where I purchased the 1980 CBX.As far as what my kit included Wes shorter handle bar,Foot peg mounting plate have a kicked back position. Shorter cable system and controls.
Shifter linkages and brake and shift arms shorter.Really like the layer down body position more, less fatigue on longer rides.
Saved all original parts taken off,

Errata: Brake and shifter arms were not shorter. Brake pedal is exactly the same (brake pivot is different), shifter pedal is formed slightly different and linkage is actually longer to compensate for the footpeg being further back but the pivot remaining in the same spot.
You are "preaching to the choir" here on this forum about what the Sport Kit really is.
