Agreed, excellent post and thanks for the pics and the link. I am using a Dyna ignition in addition to the coils so the stock wiring is out. But that's a handy idea if using stock wiring.

I kind-of prefer the idea of mounting the wires to the coils with the ring connectors, and using the quick-disconnect just so the re-installation of the wires on the coils is less likely to get messed up.

Use the coil stock wiring but with "stud to quick disconnect adapters" also listed as "ring to blade terminal adapters".
OK, so now that I finished installing it, I totally get what you were saying. This is a sound idea and I'm tempted to get a baggie of these and go back and reinstall the stock wiring, although I'd still have to take the Dyna wiring and put it into the matching Hitachi adapter, to get it to mate up to the ignition module. But if I did, I'd have my foolproof engine-tilting quick-release. Hmm.

On the referring page though, it lists a few sizes. 415ZR1, do you know offhand which size you used, e.g. #6, #8, or #10?

Although the blade connectors are common at automotive stores, here is a source for some better quality ones as well as special tools, bullet connectors and OEM style connector blocks.

After you've made a few wiring harnesses or just cleaned up some connections, you'll find yourself using these Repair Kits a lot.

Yar, where were you 2 weeks ago Barry!

I ordered a bunch of this stuff piecemeal from The Electrical Connection, so I have much of what I need now, but these kits look excellent.

Great link, bookmarked.

I need to re-stock as I "sell" Dyna coil kits at break even prices as a service to fellow CBX riders. If you just need a few, be tickled peachy keen pink (well actually candy glory red) to send you a few gratis....
Well that would be most excellent. My crimper arrived today and so I am headed into the workshop to make some spark plug wires and then it's on to non-ignition stiff for the rest of the day. I will PM you my mailing address.

Oh and by the way, feel free to make a posting in the Vendors area if you care too. Check out the posts by Louis and Mike Nixon for format. That's very cool that you do that for CBXers

Thank you kindly!

Jeff Bennetts wrote:Yes, the orientation is correct, remember once you tighten the bolt to the end of the rotor they become a unit and centrifugal force spreads the advancer, not any contact with the rotor shaft.

Rout the coil wires down the frame backbone using the OEM ties, the last couple bikes I did were using pods so I don't remember off the top of my head where i went down from there.
OK, next question: Dyna ignition instructions say I can remove the spark units as they are no longer needed, kewl. So I removed the igniter assembly, and the three pigtails that go along with it. One pigtail formerly went to the stock ignition to get the timing pulses I presume, the other pigtail went up to the coils and thus the spark plugs, and the third 2-wire brown connecter went to the wiring rack on the right side of the battery box, for 12V power to the ignition I presume. One of the wires in this brown connector is black/white, the other green. Black/white appears to be the hot lead that I need to bring up to the coils to power them. True?

If so then I think the cleanest setup is to run a wire into a matching connector, and then into my coil harness.

Those of you that have installed the Dyna ignition, where do you get your switched power from?

You're a gentleman, thank you kindly for sending those, much appreciated.
