Greetings,
12 days ago I purchased a 1981 CBX "school bike" from the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District surplus auction. There were two bike available. My bike has pristine fluids, nubs on the tires and 1.8 miles on the counter. An inspection through the plug holes reveals the engine hasn't been fired. There are items hung on the bike that are missing including coils, oil cooler and lines, windshield, turn signals, front master cylinder/lever, rear brake pedal, rear foot pegs; and, I'm sure, some other items. I'm attaching 2 photos and will post vehicle numbers soon. I paid USD 1,750.00 for it. I plan on fully photo-documenting it before anything else.

Tevan,
No, I din't get title. Just a a bill of sale. So I will just go through the lost title process at DMV. My understanding is that Honda, by contract, required the recipients of their school bike not to run them, title them , or resell them as bikes. Hence, the "parts only" listing at the auction and the lack of title. The engine and a all other systems not "hung" do not appear to have been opened up.

Welcome to the site, Richard.
Read some nasty stories about ham-fisted students assembling these engines.
It would be great if yours has not been opened. Good luck getting it back on the road.

Welcome, Richard, and thank you for the serial number info. I will add it to the database and check if I have anything of interest on this bike.
But if it is a schoolbike, I think that will be all the history.
