Re: What the heck is this?
I cannot check right now, but it sure resembles something that I think holds the choke cable somewhere...

No it isn't the choke cable clamp.

Re: What the heck is this?
It may turn out not to be a CBX part and was returned by the powder coater by mistake...

Re: What the heck is this?
There's nothing similar to that on my '80.
What it DOES look like is the fixing plates for the D-rings I use for anchor points in my box trailer.

Re: What the heck is this?
I remember taking it to the powder coat shop and I'm almost positive I remember disassembling it from the bike. I have one more 79 I'm going thru when I finish this one, maybe then I can solve this puzzle when I start on it. Just last week I had a 81 -82 rear fender mounting hardware replated ( I don't know it got in with the rest of the batch ) and scratched my head for a day until Louis told me what it was. Its always something..

Re: What the heck is this?
It's the clamp on the license plate holder for the wiring, I think. Top front or thereabouts.

Re: What the heck is this?
It's #17 on page J-8 block F-28 - taillight. Shows as applying to serial number 3513 and up. Attaches with 2 screws to plate #16. So bikes under that serial number do not have the 2 parts.

...and, it is only on U.S. and Canadian bikes. Parts #16 and #17 are not listed on parts list for other countries, and it's not listed for 1980 models (Nils!)
Another difference between CB1 and SC03.
