I bought my 1981 CBX new in Edmonton. I still ride it every now and then, but a 2005 Rune is my regular ride. Years ago, I bought the Tech Tip Chronicles, which I still keep next to my toolbox.
I sold my beautiful 81 to a guy in Calgary. Lost touch with him and wonder if he still has it. Last time I visited it I didn't like what I saw but then it wasn't mine anymore. Have you had this long. Maybe it's my old bike.

Been a while. I have a rotten memory...what are you riding these days?
Greetings Steve. Currently CBXless and unless the right one crosses my path for the right price it will probably remain that way. Still miss them. Currently I've got a 2004 KLR 650 and a 2000 Goldwing 1500.

No, I bought my mine new back in 1981.
Sweet. If you are interested I can PM you the last known location of my 81 and you could check it out. It's a small shop.

Hi Nick! Hope you're doing well. It is always good to hear from you!
I am still waiting for you to admit that selling the CBX was one of the biggest mistakes you made in your life and you still regret doing so.....

Hiya Mike. I'm doing very well. Thanks for asking. Life is good. Wife retired today so now we are both retired. The next year will be a learning curve as we try to adjust to a fixed and limited income. Don't know how long the nest egg will last. Planning on bouncing the check to the undertaker. Enjoying life and my 3 grandkids.
As to the CBX. I can't say I regret selling them but I do miss them. If I still had my 81 today I wouldn't be selling it. I got into motorcycling late in life. My 80 CBX was my first bike. As a learner it was a bit of a beast. I had problems handling it, especially with the Vetter attached, and I feared wrecking the bike and hurting myself. That was one motivator for selling. When I got the KLR 650 I realized I should have started on something a lot smaller. It's just the way things went. I was actually looking at buying a Virago when the 80 CBX crossed my path and I went for it. Fast forward to buying a Goldwing. Riding it went a lot easier having rode the KLR for a number of years. Took a couple of GWRRA courses and practiced in the parking lot and feel a lot more confident handling the heavy iron. So now if the right CBX came along I may be tempted having more confidence to ride it. However I'm actually looking around for a barn find small dual sport to restore.
Best wishes to you.

Well, Nick, as you know, your '81 has been immortalized by "Autmun Riders"! If you buy one of their shirts with an embroidered image of an 1981 CBX, you get the bike in your avatar. Including the high windshield!
We are in the same boat. I am going to retire end of June and we will have to see how to make ends meet without a corporate paycheck every month. May have to sell some of the bikes
