Got the itch, got the "X", uh oh! Greetings from Santa Cruz!
Hello all! My name is Keith and I am an addict... (Hello Keith!)
Not just CBXs but bikes in general. Probably had about 100, still have a few to go. Mainly dig the vintage bike and retro vintage bike scene (ZRX Kaws for one). Former AFM racer, now just a sane street rider. I had a '79 back in the day, loved it. Bone stock, low miles, mint...should have kept it! Who knew? Had a '80 a few years back, this one fairly tricked out, Sport Kit, pipes, Calfab, shocks, etc. Decent bike.
Fast forward to present. Got the urge to get a project, just picked up a low mile '79. Very decent shape(at least seems that way for being in my garage for 5 days), mostly stock with a few tasty additions: Pipemaster 6 into 6, Works Shocks, sport kit.
Plans are to disassemble partially, do some much needed detailing, get maintenance done as required, update with needle bearings for the swingarm and steering head, Progressive fork springs etc. Then who knows??
At any rate, I am glad to have found this forum; would love to meet up with some locals and maybe hit Alices' like the old days!
Thanks, Keith

Hey Nils! Very cool, another "X"er in Santa Cruz. Yes...we will have to meet up. I am just not sure I will ever be able to park mine next to yours (LOL). Your bike is beautiful! Wow! Great Job. Looking forward to it.

Nils, g..d.ned, put a coat on! It is cold outside..

Welcome, Keith! There shouldn't be a shortage of CBx riders close to you! That's why Nils moved there from the East Coast!

P.S. You have a Rokon? Or two? Pics of it (and the CBX as I think of it) or it didn't happen!

Welcome Keith.
Hey Nils! Looks like you've been keeping in shape on the MTB trails. Bike looks great.

Nils, two years ago I actually had 5 Rokons. 3 MX models and 2 Cobra models. At one time or another, they were all on Craigslist for sale. I can certainly PM you pics of them, along with some of the other fun toys I have had over the years. Like I said...it's a major addiction. Right now along with my new CBX, I have a Ducati Sport Classic, a turbocharged big bore Kawasaki ZRX1200 and my favorite around town scoot...1981 Honda Passport C70. Perfect for heading to Seabright Brewery on!
Have not figured out how to attach a pic yet, I imagine we can PM on here as well?
Thanks for the welcomes from the others as well!

Welcome Keith! Don't think you can attach pics to a PM - at least I've never been able to, but it's easy on the regular forum.

Keith:
Just click on 'upload attachment' at the bottom of your reply screen. You can then click 'browse' and it will look into your files. Double click on what pic you want (watch the size) and the link will appear in the 'filename' box. Then click 'add the file' and it will. Then preview the reply and you'll see how it will look. If satisfied, the 'post'.

Hi ya, Keith.
You will find no help here in curing your addiction. Bunch of enablers, if you ask me.
A turbo ZRX? Mr Bennett will be along shortly for the details.

Yup, I figured as much! They say if you want to beat your demons you got to hang out with a different crowd, and here I am getting in with another forum of addicts! Will I ever learn?steve murdoch icoa #5322 wrote:Hi ya, Keith.
