Hi ya, Steve.
Make it a father/son project, no way she could deny quality family time like that.

Is your '80 a Japanese or Marysville bike?

I'm just up in PA - about 3 hours away. There are a couple of other CBX owners we know in and near Morgantown.

Neat to think of the two bikes being assembled a day or so apart, 35 years ago.

Here is an interesting tidbit about 1980 CBX assembly:

I am not sure exactly when 1980 CBX production started, but considering that number "40" was made in June of 1979, that may be the first month of assembly in Japan.
We all know that U.S. assembly in Marysville started in September of 1979.
The highest serial number I know of that was made in June is "754" and that makes me want to think that the 1980 CBX was made in Japan for only 2 months, June and July of 1979, reaching our estimated total of approx 1,600 to less than 1,800 units.

Mike:

I think you mean 'June of '79' for production start.
