Re: Hi all
Welcome to the ICOA! Lots of super information on the CBX here.
If you are looking for information on the CB750F Super Sport (Bol d'or) then this website:
www.cb1100f.net
will have everything you need on rebuilding that.

Its a CBX. Thanks for the welcome both, and the link Steve M. I'm aware that the motor isnt the best Honda made but they all deserve to live.steve murdoch icoa #5322 wrote:Is it a CBX750F that you picked up as a project?

This forum is USA based, and over here we only got the 1000cc model CBX. The other sizes were designated F models, if we got them at all. So, there may be some members here who have/know about the CBX750, but your real resources will be those listed above.

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

Re: Hi all
I wasn't aware of that! I thought the US had the CBX650 which is basically the same motor?
Its odd isnt, given the size of the US market you would havethought all the models were offered.

Re: Hi all
It's not always the size of the market that determines model offerings. Different markets have different acceptances. Variations of the "smaller CBX" bikes were called "Nighthawks" in the U.S.
These bikes had a little touch of cruiser to them, attractive to U.S. consumers -so Honda thought. The full-fairing CBX750F was not offered in the U.S.
The "F" site or forum that Steve G refers to is for the Bol d'Or models, which were basically the CB750F, CB900F and CB1100F DOHC bikes from 1979 through 1983.
Lots of expertise about these models there, but careful, these bikes are quite different to the "CBX" series mainly sold in Europe and some in Canada.

A few of the little CBX's migrated to the states from Canada.Rick Pope wrote:

Rick correct me if I'm wrong but I think it was Dave Ditner who owned a CBX550 for awhile, brought it to several ICOA rallies back in the day, it was a sweet little bike, it had a red & white paint scheme similar to an CB1100F.

You are correct. We almost bought that bike for Susan, and Dave beat us to it. A couple from Canada had ridden to St. Clairesville, on their his/hers CBXs.

Re: Hi all
I didn't want to get involved with the early CB-F bikes as the motors are fairly basic, to be honest its just the engine that interests me as Chassis, Wheels etc are straightforward.EMS wrote: These bikes had a little touch of cruiser to them, attractive to U.S. consumers -so Honda thought.
