Hello there

Post by sneck »

Hi there, I thought I had better introduce myself I have been viewing and searching this forum for about 2 months now after buying a 79 Z, it is a U.S model Z which was shipped to the UK earlier this year but wants/ wanted plenty if work. It has 19000 miles on the clock and mostly original but has been stood for a very long time and you've guessed it the carbs were totally gummed up but after reading on here how to remove the slow jets and totally clean the varnish off the slides they are ready to go back on the bike. There was a lot of bits that were in boxes and this is where my request for help with you is.
There is what looks like a pipe which looks like it fits on the plastic junction under the carbs for the main overflow pipe, but what I dont know is where else it fastens to or its route.

Here's a couple of pics of the pipe

Sneck
Welcome to the site. Your pipe connects to the top left clutch casing bolt which you see here in the attached picture. It then runs between the engine casing and swing arm to hang just below.

Hi Sneck.
Welcome to the site. If you have been around for two months you have seen how often carb related questions are asked.
Glad to hear you are on the way to getting yours sorted out.
Did your bike come with the awful North American hand and foot controls?

Hi Steve I have change the bars to the lower euro spec and also changed the switch gear, great site with some really good info available just by searching.

Here's some pics as I got it the photo's make it look better than what it was, not sure what sort of pipe is on it any ideas?
Wont be keeping it on though.

Nils, that is a GREAT heckle.
Sneck the DG is one of the more inexpensive systems available. It works fine, sounds good imho, and can be used without rejetting.
The fit and finish can be iffy.
