Turn Signal Help Needed

My rear turn signals will not work. When either the left or right is turned on, only the front signals will turn on (not blink). I checked the back signals for voltage (getting about 10v-11v) and for a good ground. Could the relay be bad or am I not getting enough voltage to the back? The shop manual does not have a wiring diagram, so I cannot trace back to the source. Any help would be appreciated.

Here's a wiring diagram that might help. Your symptoms are as though the rear bulbs are blown. Clean up all of the contacts with wet and dry paper and see if that makes a difference. Also you could take a good bulb out of the front and put it in the opposite rear so you know you have 2 good bulbs and see if that gets things working.
Good luck

Front and rear bulbs are not the same. I don't think you can plug one into the other socket.

If you are measuring 10-11 volts at the connectors near the tail light, that is sufficient to light those lamps. It's unlikely that both bulbs would burn out at the same time, so the problem should be between the connectors and the bulbs. Are the connections wired correctly? They are color coded, so it should not be hard to do it correctly. A grounding problem could affect both turn signals, so maybe that is where you should look first. This should not be too difficult.

I discovered the problem. I'm using a two piece turn signal (KZ1000) that I powder coated. The two pieces were not making contact because of the powdercoat and therefore lost the ground that the housing delivers to the bulb. I appreciate everyone's response.

Good detective work, Lee.
Lots of good riding weather for you these days?

Weather has been off/on lately with the rain coming through. At least its cooling off into the low 80's though. The coldest it gets here is 50's which is rideable, but uncomfortable.
