New Member in New Jersey
Hello fellow CBX enthusiasts,
I'm a new member from Englewood Cliffs, New Jersey. Purchased my 79 X in the fall of 2009 and have been absorbing a lot of information from the CBX World forum, which was the first one I stumbled upon. I decided to check out ICOA as well, and am glad that I did. My bike was in fairly good cosmetic shape when purchased except that the prior owner had powder-coated lots of stuff black. Definately not original, but no dents, scuffs, or damage other than a couple of tiny chips on the cylinder fins. Mechanically, she was a little neglected. During the winter of 2009/2010, I treated the very rusty tank with POR 15, cleaned the carbs (thank you Mike Nixon), adjusted valves, replaced the alternator with a modern conversion, and rode it like that last summer. I am now in the process of going through the carbs a second time (didn't split the bank or remove the idle jets the first time), and hope to have the bike running even better this season. Anyway, glad to be a part of your forum, and thanks to all those who take the time not only to do the work on their bikes, but to document and post so the rest of us can benefit from their knowledge and experience.

Mike.....welcome to the forum. I'm located up the road from you in Monroe NY. If you need a hand with something, give me a shout. I go to NYC a few times a week for work and occasionally take 9W as an alternate route to 4 and 17.

EMS, Steve, Larry, Nils, and Carl,
Thanks for the welcome guys. EMS - I have a brother Adam in Houston, but he doesn't drive a UPS truck. Steve - I feel your pain, unbelievable pile of carb parts on my workbench right now. Nils - Jealous of your location, I grew up in Sutton, NH and riding here in NJ just isn't the same. Carl - good to know there are a couple local guys, I'm always willing to lend a hand as well, but I'm more in learning mode now than teaching!

Welcome aboard Mike!
Looks like there might be a few CBX's coming your way this spring! A New Jersey ride is currently in the works.
I hope to make it. You?
