Kaw alternator on CBX

There's a plug on the primary shaft that drives the Alt. There's a small hole in it so the alt clutch plates get a little oil. With a Kaw alt and cush drive with rubbers in it would the hot oil be detrimental to the rubbers? Could the hole be plugged off? It's the low pressure system. Would that help other things in the low pressure system, like the oil cooler and tensioner for the hyvo chain? I've seen CBX's where that plug keeps falling out. How much would that affect the oil temp and chain tensioner? I'm just wondering because all my running CBX's now have Kaw alternator's. Should I plug the shafts? I think I might to see what happens.

As long as the rubber is a Nitrile rubber no probs there George. Plugging no probs either but removal/falling out of the restrictor, I would think there would be a problem there..

I'm gonna leave the plug in with the hole in it. It's been years since I had one fall out but I know others who have that problem.

That would give you the roadside option of going back to a stock alternator if you so wish George...

I'd have to do just a wee bit of re-wiring Larry. When I install a Kaw alternator I wire in a new two prong plug and trim the wires as short as possible. All my X's have Kaw alt's now and I have a spare alt.
