Rear Master

I cleaned and put in a rebuilt kit in my rear master cylinder. It worked quite well for about 3000 KM. The other day I applied the rear brake only to find out they failed. I opened up the master and noticed the internal piston or plunger seems to jam up if the brakes are applied to hard. I recleaned everything and still have the same problem. I wonder if I need a complete new Master Cylinder? They are hard to find. I understand other Honda bikes had the same system. Does any body know?

Thanks

Duane, This "jamming" would seem that the rubber cup is distorting under high pressure. In which case it could well be a worn (oversized) or a notched bore. That is, if the cups are the correct part number & correctly fitted.

I have a similar issue on my 1980,

new rubber a few years ago and now leaking. it seems there are two rubber kits from TIMS, you have to measure your bore to get the right one, might be my problem too. BTW, new ones aren't hard to find if you just PM the Parts God, Louis. :D
