What are these two wires?

I just installed a new left hand switch assembly on my 79 and wondered what function the two wires serve that plugged in directly behind the choke lever? Can't find an mention of them in my owners manual. Thanks to the group.

I believe they plug into the clutch lever to prevent starting the bike when it's in gear and the clutch engaged.

Color codes Randy ?? Never mind, I think George has it right....

I don't have the color codes with me, since I'm at work, but cbxstacys reply makes sense. I'll bet it's a safety switch to make sure the clutch is disengaged before the starter will activate. I just aquired this bike and don't remember, but I'll bet it will start in neutral with the clutch out though. That switch must work only when the bike is in gear?
