Front brake lever - electrical brake switch replacement.

Hi guys - Quick question on the way out to work.

My rear brake light stays on, on my '79. The rubbere boot over the switch located on the bottom of the brake handle is torn. If I wiggle it around the light will go off momentarily.

How long should it take to replace?

How much should the part cost?

I need to get it right for a ride at the end of the month.

Thanks,
Bill

I just replaced the front brake switch on my '79. I got it from PartsNMore. https://www.partsnmore.com/cat_index.ph ... electrical

It was $4.00 and was exactly the same as the Honda switch. I think they are still available from Honda for about $18. It took about 15 minutes to replace due to my old switch being stuck.

Bill, if push comes to shove, bypass the switch, stick a paper tack in the right sole of your shoe & run the wire to it, grounding it to the brake lever makes the circuit..

I'm going to Copper Harbor Michigan at the end of the month. Maybe I could get by till I arrive up there and mine some of my own materials for repair.

Naw, that would take away too much time from drinking Canadian beer. We are holding a covert Amercan/Canadian peace conference and going for a round of golf while we are at it.
