Vintage vs Current Pipemasters

Its my understanding that the vintage Pipemasters are steel-chrome and current ones are stainless steel. Is that correct?

What are the pro's and cons of each version?

They made both chrome steel head pipes and stainless head pipes for several years. So with the earlier systems, you could see either.
