Hello everyone. My name is Mike from western PA. USA. i recently inherited my late fathers CBX he bought new in '79. I remember riding on it with him as a 10 yr old kid and later on my own as a high school senior. Quite the thrill for a young man i might add. now with only 17k on the odo, im getting it back roadworthy as it has sat for 20+ yrs. the carbs being the last on the list im still working on. i remember how fun it was syncing them back in the day. cant wait to play with them again. here's a pic of it with my XX. I'm happy to be a part of this group. it reminds me of him when i read some of your posts and stories.
respectfully
Mike

Re: New Member
sry i should have elaborated more on the reconditioning of the cbx .
so far:
new tires, brakes, spark plugs, air filter, LOF, seat cover, turn signals, headlamp assy and brackets (it used to have a vetter fairing on it, original headlight and brackets long gone) .
rebuilt the brake calipers frt n rear. w/ fluids flush,
lubed throttle and clutch cables, wheel bearings and drive chain.
complete inner kits for the carbs.

Hi Mike! Welcome! There's a good possibility I knew, or knew of your father. I'm over in Knox, but knew a bunch of guys in the Meadville area with CBXs back in the day. Hung out at ST&T some too. I still work on these things all the time, if you need anything, just holler. Ought to get together for some riding as well!

Mike - I see your CBX at one time wore a Vetter fairing. The spool oil cooler spacers are still on the bike.

hey Dave, thanks for the info on the oil cooler. ive ridden many times through Knox on my Blackbird. Still working on the CBX carbs. you more than likely didn't know my father as he was from Michigan, Lansing to be exact. But i would be up for a ride sometime. Ive been looking for a nice day to go out for one.

Welcome to the site, Mike.
Refurbishing the CBX is such a great way to keep the family memories going
From your already done maintenance list it sounds like you won't need much help doing it.
