New member from northen Sweden
I bought me a 82 cbx with about 45000km (28000 miles?) last monday. It was parked for 22 years, so i got me a vinter project.
Its starting to go sub freeze point now, it will last to beginning af april. (Swedes love to talk about weather:)
So far i found a mistreated camholder nr 5 that someone broke loose with a screwdriver, but thanks to this forum a new used one is on my way trough Louis at usedcbx parts. Overall it looks good.
I also have a Honda XL 250 1975 that me and my father bought in 91, it hasn´t been running for plus 20 years. But now i have started to take it back to old form. Bike just has 16000km (10000 miles?) on it.
The CR500 is built by a friend and race ready, but it is not being ridden much. It has some sweet sound though.
Thanks Marten.

Welcome to the site, Marten.
A pic or two of your new ride would be great.

Re: New member from northen Sweden
Hello, now is time for my first but probably not last question
I have now spent some time with my cbx.
The engine is removed, also the head and cylinders. Cylinders is fine and so is the pistons.
The head leaked on all the 12 exhuast valves, but the inlets looks good with no leaks. I saw and old post where Dave said that the on a typical CBX inlet valves are probably fine with a little "matching" and that the exhaust valves needs to be replaced. And seats cut?
What is the concesus about splitting the cases and replace the oil seals, check the oilpump etc while i have the engine this far apart? To split or not?
My bike has been parked since 99 and there are no leaks now, but i have not had the bike running.
If i am splitting the cases, i have read in the manual (which is great!!) that i need a special socket for the clutch, a "pin spanner" for the locking ring on the primary shaft and a holding tool to hold the primary shaft in place. Is there some moore spec tool i need?
The special clutch socket and the pin spanner i can likely solve but the holding tool for the primary gear seems harder to get.
Is there another way to hold on to so the get primary shaft locking ring off and on again?
Sorry for my bad english.
Tomorrow we will get snow and sub zero degrees for as long as the weatherpeople can look.
Thanks Marten
