New Member in Georgia, U.S. '79 CBX.

Post by C(B|R)X »

Hi, all. I'm the proud owner of a '79 CBX. It wears the original rubber and has a (believed original) 1,800 miles. My dad acquired it some years ago as a parts bike for the '80 he's had since new only to realize that the '79 was too complete to part out. He gave it to me about three years ago and it's been in my garage since. Prior to my family's ownership, it was sitting covered but possibly outside for the majority of its life. The serial number puts it towards the end of the MY79 production run I believe. I'm motivated to begin work on it but I have no clue where to start (so I joined the forum!). I'll be lurking around, reading up on as much as I can.

I guess a fun fact about me, I also own a '88 CRX that I restored in the early 2010's. That's where my username comes from. I just love old Hondas (and some new ones, too). Excited to join in on discussion and hopefully gain some knowledge from all the experienced people here!

Good luck with it. That’ll be a handful.

Thanks! I actually just got done reading the checklist you shared and I'm browsing through the shop manual right now.

How exciting !! Lots of elbow grease and a few minor parts and you will be good to go.
You will find lots of help here and on the ICOA Facebook page. Also from www.cbxworld.com
Post lots of photos and maybe your VIN for Mike to keep a record of your bike. He may already
have something for you from it's past.
Very Best,
Phil

Welcome to the site.
It would be interesting to know why such a low mileage bike would be mothballed and deemed a parts bike.
Just curious, is the engine stuck?

Like the Cannondale on the wall. Just a guess but late '90s?
