Hello all
Thanks for the open door! I'm 66, live in Montana. Long story short, my brother-in-law bought an old building in Butte Montana. It was packed with junk. Burried was a dirty old motorcycle. He didn't want it. I did so he said take it. We dug it out from under the junk and loaded it up in my pickup. Lol, so down the Honda rabbit hole I go.
Black, 79, mfg. 4/78, CB1 2000435.
I'm guessing its 98 percent complete, engine turns over with kick start. I'm wondering if the value is worth the restoration costs. I will most likely restore it regardless. Never rode a CBX but put 125000. Plus miles on a CB 750.
Thanks again
Bud Washburn

Your absolutely correct. Its been a few years since I got it and its been setting in the barn. Now I'm wondering why I was thinking the engine wasn't locked up. Damn I hate the thought of getting old!

Welcome to the site, Bud.
Restoration costs versus value can be a tricky game to play but when your buy-in price was free it makes the decision a whole lot easier.
Post some pics of your staring point when you get a chance.

Welcome Brad! The very low serial number of your bike alone makes it worthwhile to restore. Not many 3-digit ones still around. You mentioned it was black, obviously been repainted sometime in the past. Post some pics and details about the bike, missing items, etc. You'll likely find many of the parts and most of the advice you'll need here.

It's already been modified so you won't need to stress over whether to keep it original, either way it's gonna be pricey. Do it because you love doing it not to make a profit.
CBX a work in progress, still improving...GS1150EFE completed and awaiting modifications.....RD350, remnants in boxes scattered throughout the garage
