Finally bought an 82 CBX

Post by oldbikerdude »

After dreaming about owning any year CBX bike for many years now, I finally made a deal on an 82. It has only 35000 km, and has been very well looked after.
But get this, I don't have it yet. Bike has been purchased and am getting it shipped from Alberta, should have it by early July. I cannot describe how excited I am. CANT WAIT.

Welcome! Can't wait to see pics! The '82 is my personal favorite.

So got my 82 delivered, already back in late July,
here's a few pics, hope they show up.
Started to disassemble, ordered many parts, caliper rebuild kits, wheel bearings, fork seals, air filters, oil filters etc. Among many others.
Looking forward to this project.
Cheers,

Great looking '82.
Still a month or so of riding season.
What are the two brackets bolted on the rear of the frame? Were they used during the shipping?

Steve: Don't know if you mean these, but the triangular brackets on the rear are stock on the '82 to hold the passenger grabrail

Those brackets look huge.
Still lots to learn for me about these bikes.

Thanks for the comment guys, appreciate it, cant wait,
Just doing all three caliper rebuilds new seals, etc,
Have wheel bearings as well,
If brake fluid system is completely flushed any reason why I cant use Dot 4 as opposed to recommended Dot 3.
Thanks,

DOT 3 and 4 are completely compatible. DOT 5 is not.
