New member from N. Texas
Greetings to all, well, after 20+ years since I stopped riding, as a promise to the wife, and now that our boys are old enough, it was time... I am into classic bikes, growing up in the 70's/80's, with an interest in Italian as well. Found my '82 locally, a guy that I had purchased another bike from was getting rid of his collection, great looking bike, that I kept on my mind since it first came out, with low miles and good condition, so I jumped on it and bought it. Need to do a couple of things to it, seems one of the forks is leaking as it dives easily, a good clean up and a few cosmetic items, so it should be good to go pretty soon. Looking forward to meeting some fellow CBX riders in the Area!

Welcome! Looks like you found a nice one. Lots to read and learn about re-commissioning a CBX here, lots of little things to check and do for a reliable ride. Post some pics and ask away.

Welcome, JB!
Before you dig into the fork and spent unnecessary time and effort - you may want to check the air pressure. If the bike was standing for a long time, it may be low. Without air pressure, the fluid level will not support the load.
If the fork leaks, you should see that on the stanchions.
If they do not show any oil film, your seals may be OK.

Hi, JB. A thought/suggestion regarding your forks. If they are, indeed, leaking, strongly consider installing the RaceTech emulator valves when you rebuild/have them rebuilt. Biggest part of the job is removing the forks from the bike. Those valve kits are relatively inexpensive; and, they do make a noticeable improvement to the ride and handling. Second note -- it is possible to remove the forks from the '82 without having to remove any fairing bits. (Been there-done that.)
Have fun and enjoy. Can't top that sweet six!
