my second cbx
Hi ,
I'm new to this but this is my second '79 cbx , the other one I owned in my old home country Sweden some 33 years ago and sold it to come to this great country of USA. I just got my self a "barn find" (last time it ran 2005) a month ago and looking forward to restore it . I live in Dallas, Texas and restore historic race cars for a living. Nice to be part of your forum and club, Thanks.

So, what's the story about the 962? I am missing Al Holbert's name on the car? Any details about the Gulf-Porsche? Is it a 917K?

Wow!
Not being a car guy i am going to guess the first one is a Bentley?
btw, that is a Denco exhaust system on your CBX.
They sound terrible and decrease performance. Best send them to me for disposal.

Interesting. Reason I am so curious is, that we have a 962 currently in our "inventory" and we "race" it in vintage events. Ours is a chassis built by Porsche for a customer.
No 5 was a factory race car. It was crashed in 1986 and subsequently sold, supposedly to Vern Schuppan.
The car in your picture carries the No1 plate and paint scheme of the Le Mans winning car driven by Derek Bell, HJ Stuck and Al Holbert.
Now, there is a 962-C05, maybe, which is not documented....

I'm not sure I know that the car was purchased in Europe maybe 5 years ago or so and now it lives here in usa.
