Good for you! Our stories are similar. I recently acquired a '79 as well. You definitely came to the right place as there are folks here who've ridden and wrenched these machines since they were new.

Welcome to the site, Kaners.
We never got the GSX1400 in North America.
Did you leave yours stock? Are you happy with it?

Thanks all for the welcome ,really looking forward to riding the bike but i'll have to wait until the grin comes off my face .
Steve the gsx1400 is a wonderful machine and yes very much stock except for engine protection bars, mine is a 2002 model and has the original
dual exhaust system on it ,was a really well looked after machine before i got it and i'd like to think i took it to next level ,but yeah a really nice muscle bike,
you'd be king of the hill if you imported one of those .......

You know, I took the liberty of scanning "Irish country roads" and just spent probably 30 minutes or so marveling at the options you have for riding.

With few exceptions, I have to experience my Summer riding vicariously through others (extreme desert heat is not fun). But, it's easy to imagine a CBX singing through those Irish hills and seaside lanes.

Enjoy that motorcycle. Try and avoid direct comparisons to the GSX or other modern machines and connect on the CBX's terms. I did and I really regret not having obtained one before.

Life's too short, dangit.

Welcome :text-welcomewave:
A fine choice you have made and this is a great place to learn about it.
You will eventually find out about the CBX Book 1 & 2 and its very Irish author, Ian Foster.
Best,
Phil
