CBX alternator mods

Post by DENDEN »

Hi all. New to the site. I live in South Africa and acquired a CBX 1000 made up of a 1980 frame and 1979 motor, all in very bad condition. After about 8 months the bike is slowly beginning to resemble a Honda CBX. My current problem is the alternator. The clutch discs are beyond skimming and new ones are not available. I have been told that it is possible to tack weld the two discs together to form a positive non slip drive. Has anyone got any experience or comments about this "alternator fix". Any help would be appreciated.

It’s been done, but I wouldn’t recommend it. To much chance of getting them off center, or even determining what center is.
