Hello just wanted to introduce myself having just purchased my first CBX 1000 and actually only my second ever Honda.

I paid alot of money for this bike as i wanted one that was genuine original and not restored. The previous owner was Gerald Davison ex General Manager of Honda UK so comes with good provenance. Took a while to track this one down, seems it came from the US. It is silver has all original paint, exhausts, shocks etc with 18,000 miles.

Any help with its history ?

Welcome to the forum and CBX ownership!

From the frame number, it's a very late Z - Some pictures would be good!

EMS (Mike) will be along shortly to give some more detail on frame / engine numbers.

yup they are expensive, if you'd bought a project to restore it would cost a lot of money too... so you've saved yourself a lot of time and it's silver! the fastest Z EVER!...

The price for a correct bike is worth paying as they are predicted get into six figures. i did hear they are very expensive to restore

I'm not the authority but about $30K usd for an immaculate almost no mile unrestored example from what I've seen...to rebuild a project into a showroom condition $20K should cover it... of course it depends on the condition of the bike you start with and what kind of deal you can negotiate...some of the prices I've encountered, a set of immaculate OEM exhaust $2-3K, NOS tank $2k, NOS tail cowl $1K, professionally rebuilt engine $4-7K, NOS sport kit $2K...and every cycle wrecker knows what they've got and don't hesitate to up charge on every part number that starts with 422...
not an inexpensive machine to own but the smiles it brings and crowds it attracts when you park it , priceless...

you have a number of experienced UK cbx owners near you for advice and an excellent supplier not far away in the Netherlands, Bert at SCM http://www.sixcenter.nl/index.html I don't know of anyone else in Europe that is as well equipped as Bert, a great guy and honest...

Wow! Neither VIN nor engine serial number indicate that this is a U.S. origin bike. I have no record of this particular machine, but there were only a handful (under 10 numbers) VIN numbers in North America over 23,000 and maybe 150 engine serial numbers over 23,000.
You should be able to tell by looking at the VIN plate whether it is a U.S. or Canadian bike. Most likely it is a General Export DM (mph) bike

if you join the Netherlands CBX club you can get a part discount from SCM, 10% if I recall correctly...
