Does anyone know the diameter of the speedo/tach shaft that the needles mount to, or conversely the size of the hole in the base of the needle where it mounts onto the shaft?

Thanks dude, where were you 6 yrs ago? I don’t even remember why I was asking, I think it was because a friend had access to a 3-D printer and he was willing to do a few small projects.

Mike does a A+ job on gauges and has a fast turn around with good prices. He has done a few of my noisy gauges.

The needle in my speedo jumps between 5-10 mph occasionally and just as occasionally, stays perfectly steady. Is there a lubrication point for it somewhere? Is the lack of oil/lube the issue? It’s on my new 34,000 82.

Are you getting any "whining" noises out of the speedo?
Couldn't find the thread but I had a similar problem years ago and it was explained to me it was the speedo cable going south. The inner cable can act like a spring and it winds up and releases. I replaced the speedo cable and it cured my issues. You might solve your problem by lubricating the cable.

Not sure what you're trying to say, but just say it. These old speedos and tachs are notorious for slow and jumping needles and a full mechanical refurbishment is the only thing that will fix them, barring a bad cable. Mike is very good at the mechanicals (and cosmetics if you desire) and it will be money well-spent to fix problem gauges. And Mike's work is quite reasonable. That's all I'm saying. Keeping and maintaining a CBX, or any classic/vintage bike is no cheap proposition.
