Hi guys,

I feel both privileged and very happy to be a member of this forum. Got lucky and managed to secure one for purchase, I'll be picking up the CBX this Saturday, and I'm keeping my fingers crossed till then.

I started riding back in 2010 on a piaggio scooter, then upgraded to a Honda RC-51 2 years ago.

Always have a soft spot for great sounding machines.

I work as an Architect and enjoys riding/driving as a hobby. I take the bus for my regular commute so just I can enjoy the weekend rides/drives so much more.

Will post some pictures once I get the CBX in my hand.

For now, just a pic of my RC-51 hopefully will do it.

Take care and always ride safe.

Welcome to the site, Bluefox.
Your RC51 is a beauty and obviously a polar opposite to the CBX.
Riding them back to back will be interesting.

So looks like an '80 model? Is it a Japan-built bike or Marysville? Congrats!

Or possibly a '79 model with later model wheels? It has a '79 cowl.
Either way, congratulations !! Where in the L.A. area are you?
I see that there is no centerstand. It is imperative that you ALWAYS turn the petcock off
or you too may end up with the dreaded hydrolock.
Thanks,
Phil

Thanks guys!

It's a '79 model, not sure if it is built in Marysville or Japan, probably there's a discussion topic out there to find out. I'll search for it.

I'm in the East of downtown Los Angeles area.

Thanks for the petcock tip, the seller warned me several times about it so I always double check, and check again whenever i walk pass the CBX to make sure it is OFF. Hopefully it will be second nature for me soon.

I may need some help as I'm not too mechanically inclined, and I think my carburetors need some cleaning. Is there a motorcycle shop in the Los Angeles area that you'd trust to do the job?

In a word, NO !! None that I am aware of and I have been here 68 years. I might consider having a look at them or can recommend several guys that do nothing but CBX carbs and other CBX repairs.
There is Mike Nixon in Prescott, AZ., Dave McMunn in Penn., J.R. Luksik in MI. You can find all three on this site or you can find me in Marina del Rey. I would be happy to have a look at your bike
to give you a second opinion or answer any questions you might have about it. I have a few CBX's myself.
Thank You,
Phil

Do yourself a favor and take Phil up on his offer of help. You'll be happy and learn a lot. If your bike is a '79, it was built in Japan.
