Big hello to you all!

My name is Rick Kean, and I recently acquired my '79 CBX Project from Upstate NY, CB1-2001857. Here's one of Jeff Barra's ebay pic's; lots of missing/wrong bits are now evident to me... Can you spot them?

But hey, fixinitupis half the fun, right? :O

I'd like to find local CBX folk, and get recommendations for reputable Honda service tech's. My present issue is wheel bearing R&R; do I DIY and buy/borrow/rent bearing pulling/fitting tooling, or do I engage a Honda Service Center or renowned CBX guru. I am all ears!

I'm ready to release my initial new and used Honda parts orders. Aftermarket battery, tires, 530 chain/sprockets, used Konis, and brake kits await install. Lots of corrosion to treat/refinish, and brake-fluid-lifted paint to be soda blasted and refinished.

Thanks for this great CBX forum resource. I look forward to contributing to it on occasion.

...either the photo is too small or my eyes are to old to pick out much except for the obvious...wrong color for a '79, no decals( tank bumpers are probably gone), seat is wrong(no strap or metal), sprocket cover missing as is the cover under the alternator, not oem exhaust but that's common, reflectors on forks...missing a mirror?...and without seeing the other side I'd bet the rear brake arm plug is missing...

Can't help you with a Texas mechanic but if you do want to tackle some of repairs yourself, Tims is an excellent place for parts. http://www.timscbx.com/
I bought a PitPosse bearing removal kit years ago and it worked well.

Wyly spotted most everything wrong, but it's also missing a rather important fastener also...
I knew I had a bad case of CBX lust when I recognized that oversight after initial inspection.

fastner? is the lower bolt from the upper motor mount missing? hard to see in there...the oil line needs to be re routed...

The rear, upper motor mount bolt is missing. Just above the swing arm bolt. Probably safe to assume that the spacer and case saver for the drive chain are also missing :-(

Most of the oil line had been replaced by Stiff High-Pressure HYDRAULIC HOSE with Heavy Steel Female Crimped Fittings then to Steel Male - Crimped Hose Barb adapters mated to the OEM Honda hose and o-ringed connectors. The Hose Cover is missing because the hose stiffness and connector bulk don't allow it to remain.

I'll be redoing the hose and replacing all the front and rear left cover bits... I recall someone in Europe offering cut lengths of fabric braided 300psi oil hose (for VW's maybe?), but I can't be sure the braid will match the Honda hose appearance. If anyone here has a hose source they'd share, then that would be helpful.

Can't help with the bits you need but wish you success in hunting them down. Like you say, it's part of the fun of learning your "new" bike.
