New Member But Original Owner

Post by gandalf_025 »

Happened across this forum the other day and joined..
I had joined a CBX forum some time ago, but lost all the details..
So, I may have posted here before, but can't be sure.

Live in Massachusetts and bought the CBX new from Parkway Cycles in late 1979..

The dinosaur, as I call it and I are not what we used to be.. but still both manage to
move under our own power.

Bike is very much original... Still even has the original chain on it.

There is very likely a set of pipemasters in it's near future...

The journey continues.....

:text-welcomewave: another original owner! there aren't many of us around, I still had my original chain too until this summer...and I refer to my z and myself as dinosaurs.

as you can see from my picture I retired my oem pipes to the garage wall and made the jump to pipemasters...visually 6 into 6 is how I think the bike should have been produced ... be prepared for a decibel increase if you go with pipemasters, hearing protection is a necessity...

a photo of your ride would nice.. 8)

Welcome, or welcome back, whichever turns out to be the case! Hello from another original owner. Yes, some pics would be nice and they're easy to post.

Not a great picture... but it is what I have to work with at this
point...

Picture makes it look better than it is..

Actually the original picture disappeared. Here it is with the pipemasters on it.

Bike has just turned 17,000 miles.
Except for fluids, spark plugs, tires, fork seals and a couple of valve shims a few times, nothing else has changed
that I can remember.

90% of the miles went on in the first few years. Now may go 100 miles a year at best.

The cat is a Norwegian Forest Cat.. He is 1 of a matched set of 4 litter mates. Never a dull moment.

Tried to link a photo to photobucket, but it got deleted.. some sort of conflict ??
Anyway, I posted it here in the gallery and we will see how it goes....

what's the serial number on the frame? and the month of production?

until last year when I began riding it again I only had 17,000 kms-10k miles ...now it's at 25.5K kms-15.8K miles...to slow the accumulation of miles I rebuilt a GS1150ef as an alternate ride....

Welcome,
And now you can know the exact production number of your CBX. It is 9260 minus 41 making it the 9,219th CBX to roll of of the assembly line.
Very Best,
Phil

Pop on out to this page and then into the club archives, there are some real gems there, including a lot of info on production:

The whereabouts of 42 & 43 are completely unknown. Number 44 was first sold in Fresno, California. It is now with it's second owner who bought it from his friend, the
original owner. He and the bike were at our 31st Annual Morro Bay CBX Rally a week and a half ago. It is a very nice looking original paint, Perseus Silver. It is owned by
Rick Hardwick.
Very Best,
Phil
