1st post..

Post by Skyguy »

It's been some time but I have finally bought the CBX that suits me. It's a 79, tastefully modified and is perfect for adding to my "Stable." I have already ordered the gunfighter Corbin seat and the 6 into 1, (actual 3 into 2 x 2) exhaust from Peter of Pipemaster down under. It has very recent top end including new pistons, etc and all carbs synced. I will get it delivered this coming Friday. I am aware of "things" to consider like a Tim's Euro alternator, etc but I'd like to ask as far as reliability, anything you would consider for this CBX?

Thanks in advance,

Sky

Welcome to the site, Sky.
I agree on the tastefully modified and the PipeMasters will be a nice addition.
Does it have a Kosman widened rear wheel?

Excellent "stable" as well. I bet the MV is a blast to ride.

Welcome! Las Vegas? Were you at the Mecum auction a couple of weeks ago? We had a great time. Curious as to exactly what pipe you ordered. Classic Pipemasters are 6-6 and you say you ordered a 3-1x2? Didn't know they made something else, or maybe a different supplier altogether?

Looks like your bike has a replacement '81 'school bike' engine. Also, verify the carbs were set up for the pod filters. Carbs need a lot of work for the bike to run right with those. Nice swingarm and other custom bits. Hope everything is as you hope when it arrives.

Your rear shocks appear a bit short. They should measure 13 inches eye-to-eye. Lots of good choices there. If the bike is well-sorted otherwise, you should be good to go.

Keep us posted.

Welcome, looks like you have a nice new toy. Like Dave mentioned the bike looks to be squatting in the rear, if you like to ride your bikes you should probably go through the brakes and suspension and maybe think about some updates depending on your riding style. There are many examples here of tastefully modified CBX'es, look around .

Keep it simple, 6 into 2.

Ya, it will steer like a bus with those short shocks on it. Great bike, welcome!

Polished CalFab swinger. Maybe the CalFab is an "F" arm. Would be a tad longer and make the bike lower. Original shocks were 360mm eye to eye, which is 14 inches. Not that one inch matters...rear wheel is widened. I guess by 2 inches. 8)

Yes, my shock length was a bit short - measured one since and is indeed 14 inches.
