I gotta say that the King/Queen seat looks better on an X than they ever did on the Goldwings from the late 70s. It has to do with the visual kickup in the tail section.

Dave,daves79x wrote:Now a couple of words of friendly advice: please do at least the normal tune-up checks, particularly the valve clearances. If you don't know for sure when it was done, please do it. Others here can testify that ignoring valve clearance checks can and will lead to burned valves. You will likely find everything OK, but with 20,000 miles, if they were never checked, you could be on the edge. Ask away if you need any guidance.
I have absolutely no service history on the bike. The fellow I bought it from was a noted used bike and parts dealer (Cycle Recycle) between Joplin and Carthage, MO. I believe he either took it on trade or bought it from someone who needed money. He is up in years now and I can get no further information on the CBX. As I understand, the bike has the 'shim and bucket' valve adjustment system, or a variant of it. My '96 Yamaha Royal Star has a similar valve adjustment system so I am somewhat familiar with it. I will put a valve clearance check on my priority list! I'll holler if I need help. Thanks!

Welcome. The bike looks very nice. I learn something new every day -- I had no idea Honda still offered new seats for the CBX, even if they come without the trim.
