EMS:
Now that I have successfully hijacked this post, we've gone from serial numbers for CBX's and now to 1100R parts . I would love to see your list of R parts. The R I am completing has been in at least two accidents as both engine covers show rebuilding on the inside and it was almost impossible to get the engine back into the frame !!!
I will take inventory, John! May take a while, though. I am in the midst of a couple of projects that need to be done before the weather turns much worse.
EMS, I edited my original post and added the VIN number for the additional 81 CBX.
If you examine the numbers you'll notice a slight difference in the center of the number,,, one has an X where the other has a 7. Any ideas on the importants of that?
Maybe that was a CBExtra.
I'm into motorcycles, wooden boats, airplanes, wood working and car restoration.
As per Honda, this particular digit is used to detect errors in the VIN-number. It consists of a single digit numebr (0-9) or the letter "X". It has no direct bearing upon vehicle description or vehicle indication/serial number.
Originally, JH2 identifies a bike manufatcured in Japan, 1HF, a bike manufactured in USA and YC1 a bike manufactured in Belgium. In the meantime, we also have bikes manufactured in Italy.
The letters "BC" before the serial number mean: "B" is a 1981 model ("C" would be 1982) and the "C" says that the bike was built in the Saitama plant.

A small correction, please. I live in Kansas along with SCO3-2010015. If you don't watch out, I'll show everybody here a picture of you along side this bike .
Hi from another Kansas guy!!!
You wouldn't happen to be going to Cassoday this Sunday (Oct. 4)?
I've only seen one other CBX there in all the years I've been going.
Be good to meet up with another CBXer.
BTW, very nice CBX......

I will be going to Cassoday this Sunday, don't know just which bike I'll be riding. Gonna have nice weather and it is only a 95 mile trip for me. For you it is likely somewhat longer. I usually get there at 10:00 and I park on the "square". That's where the four "paths" meet. I usually meet another CBX'r there - he rides from Topeka. I was there in July and about 1000 bikes were there and no CBX's, no 1100F's, just Harleys and Gold Wings. In times past, there were a lot of old bikes. Anyway, we should take Cassoday off site - you are welcome to either call me or email me anytime you wish - here it is: johnddavis@cableone.net or
