Cam Chain tensioner & guides

I should clarify that I bought the DOHC tensioners from a guy named Werner here in Albuquerque back in 1980. Werner was known around here for the engines he built. His shop was just off S. Eubank and Central here in Albuquerque. That's what, 39 years ago now. I did locate a machinist that worked with Werner, unfortunately he was not interested in machining guides or tensioners for the CBX. Wished I had taken pictures of those tensioners but back in 1980 there was no cell phone and the little Kodak 110 was not in my inventory of tools I do remember the tensioners were manual adjust and were a pearly black material that was slick and they worked very well.

Have a few more engines to build and am hopefully someone will manufacture some kind of replacement for our CBX.

Here is a second option beside Bert at SixCenter, little pricy but not to far out of aline with cost , basically a new guide. You send yours and they rebuild it.

Still no good replacement or fix for the cam chain tensioners?

I took both out of the engine and the sides are full of cracks..

These are my tensioners, is this still acceptable?

I called sixcenter and a set of spanners = refurbishment of the large and a replacement for the small one = 600euro's ~ 700$
It's really a lot of money for a piece of spring metal covered in plastic..

Your call. Lots of CBXs running around out there with ones like that and worse, but you've gotten it torn down now. I'd look for at least some good used replacements. Louis still has NOS I'm sure. This is why an engine build costs $5-6K to do it right.

Does Louis has a website? The only Louis I know is a German webshop which only sells standard aftermarket parts and clothing.
My intension was to replace them, but that price.. for any other similar model the prices are maximum 1/4th of this.
I will give a call to my local engine tuner if he knows someone who can fix these parts as well

Louis is usedcbxparts.com. He’s here in Florida. This has been discussed many times and other than the options you found and finding used or NOS from Louis, there are currently none.

I started a thread on a rebuild but, embarrassingly, have let it die a bit for the last few months..........
I had the same problem with the "B" blade but came up with a solution that works well, the thread is here;

I will try to get back to updating the thread and let you know what I did using new blades and old mounts.
Here are a couple of pictures of the old and new blades;

The build is now 90% complete, engine has been runing and the tensioner works fine.

they list with base price and price with tax...

there is a download google translate app for smartphones that translates written text with your phones camera...translation isn't 100% but it's good enough that you can understand what they're talking about.

I'm still looking for a solution for the tensioners.
I visited a (blade) spring manufacturer wich can replicate the blades, only thing I'm looking for at the moment is a solution for the plastic coating.. There are various options for it.
I checked your thread but I couldn't find info what you did with the B tensioner?
Probably another thread? It looks good!
