he comes here looking for info - " thanks for any info you may have on this bike."

EMS and Dave supply some info correcting a couple of cbx misconceptions, Dave and offers to help( as Dave always does) and what his response? he throws a tantrum calling and Dave and EMS morons, monkeys and bitches! ....wth!

if he's such top notch mechanic/stunt rider/pro-racer what does he need the forum expertise for...if here just to have ego stroked he's come to the wrong place...
CBX a work in progress, still improving...GS1150EFE completed and awaiting modifications.....RD350, remnants in boxes scattered throughout the garage

I'm good. Yeah the rear shocks are sagging about 1.5" . the forks feel pretty good. It does have the fork brace on it. I've been checking out some of the suspension post. I just know you better have some good suspension no matter what your riding style is. Your life may depend on it some day. I already rebuilt the master cylinders and calipers. Brakes are strong. I have rode it some here close to the house. I've locked up the front tire a few times. I like to know the bikes limits. Before I'm forced to find out. New tires also. That back tire is pretty skinny for a bike with this kind of weight. I'm not far from getting all the paper work finished. So I'm going to take it easy and not do anymore work to it in till I have a tag and title. I do have a new set of the crash bars for it, in a yellowish vacuum packed card. So they look pretty old. The crime is good. I'm looking to take the pipes and have a black ceramic coat put on them. But I think it will be a fun bike to cruise around on.

I'll make a couple of more observations, assuming the photo IS the bike we're talking about. First, those are stock carbs on the bike, with K&N filters. They should look exactly like the 'stock' ones you have in a box. Check the numbers - they are likely both VB60 sets.

'I would guess' and 'there's no telling' aren't exactly definitive and the fact is, right now, you or no one else knows what, if anything, has been done inside the engine. But the dyno will tell you a lot. Lets just wait and see on that one.

Lastly, the only CBXs Honda wanted back were the pre-production prototypes used for testing and magazine roll-outs, which numbered about 40 or so. And yours clearly is not one of them. All production bikes came with an MSO from the factory and this one did too. I'll stand by my earlier assertion that this one was sitting in a crate and the dealer just decided to ride it. I don't know what the 'allure' is about finding a CBX that was 'never titled', but clearly had the $hit ridden out of it. But whatever.

I responded to your post Jeff. But it didn't come up. Yes I'm very interested in getting the tiny back tire off the bike. The old shocks are sagging 1.5". Forks feel good. I went through the brakes already. New seals and pads. It has the fork flex brace on It. I've been checking out the suspension threads. But I'm not going to dump anymore cash in it till the paper works right.

I told you I stopped riding about 99 on the street. I never said I was a trick rider ext. I did ride pro motocross from the age of 19- about 24. I've rode bikes all my life. Currently I own this CBX and an 83 MAICO Spider 500cc, spider means four speed sand spider is a five. I. Put a 2016 Maico 500cc in the bike, it was a 490cc.....the new engine is a five speed. A NEW 91 KX 500. But I really don't care what you think of me. Did I tell you I was retired military? I have nothing to prove to anybody. You can boot me off this sight at anytime. My heart wont skip a beat.

A few of my intrests. I'm not here to stir up trouble. I thought this would be the place to get some suspension ideas. I do hold an A&P license from the FFA with no restrictions, ISSUED FOR LIFE. You can Google that. Hvac license, Waukesha mechanics license. A few ASE CERTIFICATIONS. Welding certs. My main interest is in restoring Mopar muscle cars, I'm a B body expert. All the pics I posted are of some of my toys. I still enjoy riding motocross. I'm alot stiffer now days though, I don't ride as hard, but I have my moments. I do repair friends bikes, cars,,boat engines. Oh yeah I'm a cert. Mercury outboard tech. So you can see I have been around the world a few times.. Spent two years in Saudi Arabia. Pretty interesting assignment. Over 70 dives in the Red Sea. Mostly spear fishing. But it sure was the prettest place I've ever saw. So anyway, some of my background. Religion? I'm a Bible believer. I've read the A,V. 1611 some 70 times, the Koran about 5 times. I don't claim any religious group. But if you have any questions about doctrine or manuscript evidence , I can help you out. Pm me or friend me on fb. I'm easy to find.
I'm still getting used to this forum formate. My first one. Just my observation, this appears to be a money making site. Offering memberships etc. Some 4000 ppl are registered on it. So if I make some mistakes in posting stuff give me some time to get used to it.
But time to get to work, I hope eveybody has a good day. I wish no ill on anybody.

A lot to digest there. I'm tired just reading it! We will address your forum questions in due course, but I think you have a couple of mis-conceptions. If you just slow down a bit here, we'll sort out how we can help you. Monkeys aren't quite as smart as humans, but close.

What Dave said and my best guess as to why your current stock looking carbs are dual feed.

Dewey is the picture you posted the current version of the bike? I'd like to see a close up pic of your dual petcock setup!

I'm wondering if maybe you have some late model carbs on the bike now, the 79 carbs are single inlet whereas the late model carbs are all dual inlet fuel fed.

PS Nice Mopar

I just got home from the judges office. Looks like about two-weeks and I'll be able to go to the Dmv and get a title for it. I checked on insurance for it. Adding it to my Hagerty account for 10k value is 76$ a year. Pretty good rate. The bikes in the back of a line of other bikes in my shop. With a truck in front of it. I'm not going to mess with it till I have the tag to put on it. Should have the tag in 3-4 weeks. Also I dropped my MC endorsment on my licenses about 2002. I never intended to ride on the street again. So I'll have to renew my license. One thing. The Dmv can issue me 2 types of plates. A historic vehicle plate or just a plain tag. What do you guys think I should get on it? I won't be riding it much. Just joy ride with the wife some. I won't be caught in the rain.... LOL
And as far as adressing my issues.. I don't have any issues. Like Dave said, its just a bike that didn't sell. And the bike shop owner just had it put together and rode the SHIT OUT OF IT! So hey thanks for the welcome. I'll just sit back and watch the grass grow like the other 99.9 % of the group.

Well, let's see - you certainly have many virtues, but humility is not one of them. But it takes all kinds to make the world go 'round - right? Despite what you may think, we really are here to help CBX owners with their bikes. There are many accomplished guys on here that know a lot about the CBX. You may not have any 'issues' in life - good for you, but I'll guarantee you'll have issues with your CBX and we can certainly help you sort it out - but ultimately up to you.

Thanks for the help offer Dave.
I would like to know of any modern turn signals you can put on this bike.
That's about all I'm looking for. My bike runs great. I've pretty much stated all that I have done with the bike. Rebuilt the carbs. Which didn't need it. Pulled the valve cover off, just to make sure everything looked good. It looks brand new. I did speak to a guy who worked at the bike shop it came from. He said it never sat up. When the owner stopped riding it, he had it put on a stand. Drained the carbs and put oil in them. Removed the plugs. Kept a good battery on it. He said about once a month the guy would uncover the bike, shoot some marvel mystery oil in the cylinders and spin it over. He said he can still remember the plugs in a box setting on the seat. Under a blanket or something. I can ride it like it is. And I will. I can paint and polish it latter, rear shocks are the next thing on my list. But it all works.. I could use a new tach drive cable. Mine seems to leak a bit. Hey thanks for the offer. As you can see I have plenty to keep me busy. And I wouldn't go back to riding the street, but I think the CBX is a pretty cool bike. It has a sound like no other and I've rode alot of bikes. Man can you believe Kaw has that new bike for 54,000$ we should buy one of them. I'm sure they won't sell many.

Hi Dewey,

Welcome to the site. Pity you nearly got off on the wrong foot with some well respected folk here, but seems everyone is playing nice again now. Rest assured, we are here and happy to help out a fellow "Six addict" and some more pics of your CBX will go down a treat and help us help you in the best way possible.

Like you, my old school pal Brent in New Zealand (aka 'Captain' on the CB1100F forum) is a fellow Mopar lover. Figured you might enjoy some pics of his exquisite builds of his 605 cu in Plymouth Roadrunner. This thing pulls harder than a 14 year old boy! The last pic is also of his 572 cu in Chevelle which I can only describe as 'seriously intimidating'

Nice! Is that a '71 RR? Must have cost a small (or not-so-small) fortune to build that in NZ.

Hi Dave,

I recall Brent saying it is a '72. And yes, it surely cost 'the GDP of a small African nation'' to build it in New Zealand. And...he fuel injected it as well. Just like his CB1100F, exquisitely engineered.

In the seconnd pic, Brent is on the right looking at the camera. And my red CBX sure is languishing in exalted company!

Dewey, given the quality of your builds, your CBX is certainly lucky to have found such a happy home. Am sure you won't be able to leave it looking so forlorn for very long. Those indicators look like they could be refurbished fairly easily??

Back to you now.

Cheers...herdygerdy 8)
