I keep coming back to the SuperTrapp exhaust I have managed to get the worst of the marks out of the muffler but a ding in the No.4 downpipe was bugging me -
I am happy to buy a new exhaust but I so much liked the sound of the SuperTrapp I will carry on trying to save it.
Worryingly I seem to be a couple of balls missing, never mind I will ask my wife to take a look and find them
Managed to get it to this, not perfect but to see it you would have to crouch down in front of the motor -
The answer was BALLS!!! -
Started with a 28mm working my way up to 32mm backed up with cheap 30mm cast iron balls all hammered through the downpipe one after another, the dent came out with a little heat from a Mapp torch. Once the 32 mm cleared the dent they all came rolling out of the end of the pipe.I am happy to buy a new exhaust but I so much liked the sound of the SuperTrapp I will carry on trying to save it.

Nice save on the header pipes, the SuperTraps are worth the effort. I have restored a set Bassani pipes that had flat spots, I used compressed air to create some internal pressure and an acetylene torch to heat the flat areas but the Bassani head pipes are detachable and possible to plug whereas your SuperTraps are all one piece, a harder nut to crack!
Keep us posted on your progress.

Impressive work on the pipe .
Mine of course is not restore but rather modify and I like those supertrapp headers .

Your bike looks really nice, I love the splashes of colour matching the wheels and yes the headers seem to be very well put together its one of the reasons I am trying to save them.
Can I ask what you did with the collars, I have tried cleaning mine up but they look pretty corroded, did you paint yours? if so what did you use?
More prep and painting today, I have completed the polishing on the front wheel and taken off the existing paint, stripped down the head-stock and removed the old bearings so I can paint the top clamp and just stripped the front master cylinder ready for cleaning and prep.

Ken. The collars and headers are all ceramic coated. Took them to my local fabrication guy and he suggested it for me. These should last longer. I really love the idea of how you took the dent out. Impressive . Keep going , would love to read more

The Supertrapp headers for the CBX came originally with inserts at the inlets to reinforce the mounting area. In many cases they are gone and they are unobtainium. Make sure you have them. The thin stainless steel headers have a tendency to crack right there due to heat cycles and vibration. Not having them was the reason I sold a perfect Supertrapp exhaust.

Its beginning to look a lot like a motorbike de de dede dada....
Over the past week I polished and painted the front wheel and fitted a new tyre, bearings and seals. Prepared and painted the fork sliders and fitted new seals, dust covers and top bushes. Fitted new bearings to the head stock, stripped and polished the bottom yoke and painted the top yoke - Also fitted the centre stand, all the painted parts are looking really nice - Next up is to concentrate on getting the rear wheel fitted, first job is to polish the footpeg holders. Family up for Christmas so probably wont get much done until after so have a good one everyone.
