Hello Jonno!

The highest serial number "on record" for a 1980 CBX made in Japan is 2101. Quite a few more than 1750.

wessi:

I think yours is one of these special black 1979 CBX-Zs that were sold in some countries in Europe.
I assume the serial number is CB1-20 22087?

The special thingy about black 1979 CBX-Zs is:
Officially, there were no black 1979 models. Honda decided not to sell 1980 SC03 models through Honda dealers in Europe. When they announced the introduction of the 1980 models with the black body color option, they made some late 1979 models available in black through the "Direct Sales" programs. All of these bikes were produced late in the model run, January and February of 1979. You either have a "DK" Metric General Export bike or an "ED" European Direct Sales bike, depending on whether your carburetor ID is VB60A or VB61A.
Of course, there were also "imposters". Regular 1979 CBX models that came in CGR or PS and were changed by dealers to Black because the customers wanted it. Hard to say, as Honda did not put a body paint code on a frame tag like in later models.
But there is no official designation like "Final Edition"
