Hello CBXers,
Unfortunately I had to paint the right half of my Siver 79. The left side
is still perfect as it came from the factory.
I found by accident a perfect match in a basecoat/clearcoat paint. It is
Daimler Chrysler Wheel paint "sparkle silver metallic". I had painted my
ZX11 silver and when I compared the left side to it the match was perfect so
I painted the right side with it and ....perfect match.

I hope this helps restore some of those beautiful Silver X's.

Re: Perseus Silver Paint match!
Hi All,
New member and first time posting on the forum. I'm in the process of getting a 1979 CBX back in the road. I used this paint suggestion and I can say the color matches perfectly! Thanks @John for the post. I know it's old but I like to show my appreciation
In the process of the painter and panel beater swapping the tank for repair, it got mixed up with what I suspect is a CB900F tank. It wasn't until the bottom tank details were to be applied until the issue was figured out. I now have a CB900F tank perfectly disguised as a CBX tank. I hope you all get a laugh out of these pics.
Cheers,
Rob

Colour match looks great, application looks great, the fact it is on the wrong tank not so great.
Might as well get the F tailpiece done as well.

Re: Perseus Silver Paint match!
Thanks Guys,
Unfortunately it was another customer (of the panel beaters) CB900F tank so it will be stripped and repainted and they will probably never know.
Waiting on another set of decals for my CBX tank to arrive from the UK so I can have it repainted with the same batch of silver paint that the fender and tail are painted with. After that I can finally test ride this bike after 4 months of fixing it up. I have restored many 60s and 70s Hondas but the CBX has been a dream bike for me since I was a kid and I can't wait to ride and hear it. My love of the CBX only grew more when I saw a pristine 1978 at the Honda collection hall in Japan last year. I'll post some pics of my CBX in a new thread on test ride day in about 6-8 weeks time.
Cheers,
Rob

Re: Perseus Silver Paint match!
Your paint research saved me the effort of finding a match. I've delayed repainting my oem parts for years because I fretted over attaining an acceptable match I'll book mark this page for the future. Thanks
CBX a work in progress, still improving...GS1150EFE completed and awaiting modifications.....RD350, remnants in boxes scattered throughout the garage
