Long Sleeping '79 CBX Restoration

Just curious as to when you purchased the exhaust through North East Vintage?
I was under the impression they were no longer involved.

Back when we could travel to the States it was a good place to visit. About a ninety minute ride for me with some nice roads.

I ordered the pipes about 3 weeks ago from North East Vintage, they've been great to deal with. Shipping via UPS is expensive due to the brokerage to Canada but there's no way around that unless you could drive down and pipe them up which is difficult in these times.

Below is a picture of the dent in the right side pip that they're replacing.

I have a few things to complete including a rebuild of those Koni shocks. Registering a vintage bike in these parts can be a chore as well but looking forward to the first rides.

Why are you having problems? A bill of sale, title search and you're done.

Insurance is inexpensive as well, about $300 per year.
If you're a twenty some dude on a sport bike I can understand insurance becoming pricey.

The only left over yet to do is rebuild the Koni's, find some chrome springs and continue to break in the engine. The engine runs beautifully, pulls very cleanly through 6,000 rpm with some slight stumbling under 3,000 rpm when quick throttle openings applied. Starts and idles like a champ when fully warmed up. The Racetech fork kit with the Koni's provide a surprisingly taunt yet compliant ride. Brakes work better than I expected for 40 year old design. Overall, very pleased with the outcome. Looking forward to some good riding this summer, if it ever gets to these parts.

I've spent a good chunk of the past 2 years restoring a motorcycle (Moto Guzzi the first year), my wife is hinting this next year there's some restoration work needed in our house That and a 2012 WRX needing a new engine in my garage that my son dragged home. I do have a 2nd CBX motor that is largely all there but needing a complete overhaul and a '79 frame without much else that could be the foundation for a cafe custom but not sure I'm up to that challenge at this time, maybe some months from now
