The MF'r from Cape Canaveral now joins!

Post by mjfields_228 »

Greetings all. I have owned a 1979 CBX1000 for 2 years now and have been trying to get it on the road......reliably!

I picked it up in December of 2016. It has the 1983 CB1100F front and rear end on it. It had a semi stock motor with Pod Filters and DG 6 into 1 exhaust (wearing a Yoshi badge!!)

In 2017 I had TIMSCBX put in a fresh motor, new ignition system and upgraded charging system. There were a host of challenges this that phase then after 1000 miles I took it to a local shop to have the Carbs synced and things went south. Too long of a story so I will just fast forward to yesterday!!! Got the bike running, charging, stopping correctly and have an amazing hour long ride before sunset. Still lots to do and I will have lots of general questions. I own 10 bikes currently and this Honda and my 1984 Yamaha RZ350 are the only older freaks I own. I am a terrible wrencher -- I just love to ride but this old Honda has been a dream bike of mine since high school.

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

Slowly but surely my CBX is getting little upgrades. I changed out the Chain and Sprockets and added a Voltage Meter. I have a couple of minor oil leaks that I have yet to find where the leaks are originating from. I need to borrow someones lift so I can get it up in the air. My fat head will not fit under the motor!!! And my biggest hang-up now is once I get the motor and chassis nice and solid I want to clean up the overall appearance. Since the bike is already a hybrid of a sorts I want to clean up the handlebars, controls, mirrors and paint job to my personal liking. But, for now I am just going to ride it and enjoy it -- A LOT.

Thanks! The bike is coming along nicely now!

That is a DG 6 into 1 exhaust that is wearing a Yoshimura badge!!! It was on the bike when I purchased it.
