Anything that is not "originally" on the bike could be called "aftermarket", even if it's OEM. It is a Honda speedometer, no doubt.

I am not sure if the Euro Direct sales bikes had this kind of speedo, with mph AND kph calibration. I want to say, this was a U.S. only version. Maybe not.

Some of the questions could be answered knowing the provenance and VIN

EMS beat me to the enter button, so my post was redundant. Now it is gone.

Thanks guys for clarification. So, what is the A Model and what should I look for in the VIN?

I will take all the info I can get from the experts!

Thank you!

1979 model = CBX-Z
1980 model = CBX-A
1981 model = CBX-B
1982 model = CBX-C

Check whether the bike has a VIN plate on the steering neck or on the side of the frame forward under the tank.
If the serial number is SC03-20 1xxxx the bike was manufactured in the U.S., if it is SC03-20 0xxxx it was made in Japan
