VB64A A Carbs

Have a set of VB64A A carbs apart to clean, will be going on a 79 engine . Any benefit to going to #38 slow speed jets while I have everything apart ? Stock motor, air box,paper filter and a 6 into 2 into 1 exhaust. Or leave well enough alone and stay with the #35's. And probably a stupid question, but what effect would going up to a 38 have on the carbs?

The consensus is the larger slow jet compensates for the crappy fuel that most of us have availability to, not necessary but while you're in there why not?

Since the VB64 slow jets are screw-in, might not be a bad idea to go up to #38. They can be easily changed. Down side is poorer gas mileage. If you get everything right when rebuilding the carbs, they'll work just fine stock too.

Oops, should have said the '82 VB64 only had screw-in slow jets.

I wonder if the screw in jets is the difference between the 64A and the 64B carbs.

I think the '82 version is VB64AB
