Hello from central Ohio

Post by BallAquatics »

Just signed up for the forum. Going to start resurrecting my '79 CBX that has been in storage since the fall of '88. I purchased this bike new in either '80 or '81. It's all stock except for the rear shocks. The wife and I put about 15000 miles on it touring the mid-west back before we had kids.

It was stored with my '74 CB550 which I got back on the road this spring.

I hadn't intended to leave the bikes for so long so they were not put into storage in the proper manner. Fortunately, the garage they were in holds a rather steady year round temperature. Carbs will need a rebuild, and gas tank in full of rust, but hopefully everything else is sound.

Cheers - Dennis

Welcome aboard, Dennis.
Close to 30 years storage and your bike still looks that good? Were they stored in your living room?
Plenty of active CBX guys in your area.

Welcome! I'm likely not far from you - in W. PA. If you need anything from advice to help with carbs, whatever, give me a shout.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I'm sure you will be hearing from me as work gets underway. I started with the 550 thinking it would be the easiest of the two to get running and it really wasn't too bad.

The garage they were stored in is built into the side of a hill so it stays cool in the summer and warmer in the winter. I was also surprised that they both cleaned up so well.
