These are definitely survivors! Any of them would make a nice addition to any collection and would look great next to a CBX

one of brothers has one in Blue, about 20-30 original kms on it  .
I put half of those Kms on it 40 yrs ago riding up and down his drive, I've been trying to buy it for 20yrs. He has never even had a bike license so it just sits in his barn. If I ever manage to pry it out of his clutches maybe we can have a conversation ;-)
CBX a work in progress, still improving...GS1150EFE completed and awaiting modifications.....RD350, remnants in boxes scattered throughout the garage

A man with good taste. CBX and Blackbird. Oh, and a naked Hurricane.

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

It's been over a year since the last update - any luck?

I think after 20 years of being idle, it's time for you to just go rescue that bike. Buy him a 3 year old TU250X and leave it under a cover where the old bike was and see if he ever notices. :)

nope it's still in the barn, closer to 40yrs since anyone(me) rode it...

the Tu250x trick would work if he ever covered anything up ...it's fortunate that it doesn't take up much space otherwise it would likely be outside and not sheltered in the barn since the mid 70s...

I may go back home this summer and try talk to him again, he hasn't spoken to me in years and doesn't return my calls, I have no idea why he won't talk to me... he's got serious health issues and is surviving on a single weakened kidney...
the sad truth is I'll most likely be buying it from his daughters who are rational and love their favorite uncle ...they'll be inheriting an substantial car horde and won't have any interest in hanging onto the RD...

Some of you may find my latest project interesting: a '59 R50. This was a bike-in-a-box that took a year and a half to restore.

I like the color, what was your motivation to change from the black Dave...did you do the painting?

The color is Dover White and was offered on these bikes. The first verified white bike was made in 1960, and mine is a '59, so technically probably not a correct bike, but hey, it's what I wanted. My brother-in-law did the painting and a professional in Louisville, KY did the hand striping. Anyway, thanks!

Very cool bike, Dave.
Certainly a unique set-up with the situating of the mirrors and turn signals.
Did that last for a couple years?

These R-series bikes with the Earls forks were made from 1955 to 1969 with little or no changes. The bar-end signals and headlight mirrors were options available all those years. Standard US fare was a black bike, bench seat, handlebar single mirror, high bars. These are Euro-bars (kind of like the CBX?), headlight mirrors and single seat. Most restorers go this route as many think the bikes look the best this way.

WOW !!
That is not only a beautiful bike but is also about as collectable as they get.
Nice choice Dave.
