new member from Medicine Hat, Alberta, Canada
Good Day,
I'm a new member from Medicine Hat Alberta Canada and just wanted to say hello and looking forward to getting some technical advise from the CBX Guro's. I restore old Honda's for a hobby and always wanted a CBX and when I got a chance to buy a 81 Pro-link I jumped on it. The bike came with a shop manual and a Tech Tip Chronicles book that has all kinds of good stuff in it. It says that it was put out by this club, I heard that there was anew one coming out. The one I got has the 1999 addendums as the last entry. Looking through the book the previous owner must have found it helpful because he had a lot of the entries highlighted. I will be busy checking out all the posts, pictures and videos. I'll post a picture of the bike once I get that all figured out.
Thanks, Dreaming

job 1, buy Mike Nixon's booklet on CBX carburetors http://www.motorcycleproject.com/ carbs are an absolute pain in the arse to access/work on, do it right the first time. Or you can get someone else to do it for you, Mike, Bert at SCM, Dave, Tims' ...
Parts-Louis, SCM, Tims, CBX Performance, David Silver, Ebay or many of the forum members here...be prepared to pay a premium for cbx parts ...
CBX a work in progress, still improving...GS1150EFE completed and awaiting modifications.....RD350, remnants in boxes scattered throughout the garage

Where did you find the 81?? I sold mine to a guy in Calgary and included a shop manual and the Tech Tips. Wonder if it's my old bike.

Thanks for the input, I bought the bike from a guy that bought it new and thank goodness he took really good care of it. I have a log that has every nut, screw and oil that he has ever changed on the bike and a comment to go with it. As a bit of a collector I can relate, it just makes things so much easier and I wish that I had taken better notes of some of the earlier restorations that I did.

I had a good Canadian friend about 35 years ago that was attending school at Pepperdine Univ. here in Malibu.Mouse wrote:I'm shocked that you would have to ask that! Canadian's never touch the stuff.Jeff Bennetts wrote: you guys don't drink beer do you?
He rode a '79 CBX turbo and he could really ride. Now to the beer part. His name was John Molson

Yes, that MOLSON.
Best,
Phil

Well I hope I don't get chastised for this but, whenever The ICOA held a rally and the "Canadians" showed up somehow, someway all hell would break loose, morning, day and night for a week straight, they represented their country well!Mouse wrote:I'm shocked that you would have to ask that! As long as it was a polite "all hell would break loose" .
