I can see where that would be very helpful.

My carbs look so clean, I could eat off of them. I didn't notice the number 4 carb had a problem (of course) until it was put back on the engine and the engine re-installed.

After the engine had to come out again, I thought I might as well rebuild the complete top end, and did.

I am now back to square one, with the original problem. I should buy stock in Berrymans.

Soaked it in Berrymans a couple of days and that finally did it.

The outside of the carbs were cleaned with cleaner and lots and lots and lots of labor. Mine had a lot of corrosion and luckily, it came off with cleaner and fine Scottbrite material. Mike recommends brake cleaning spray for the exteriors, safer on the rubber components.

The fins on the engine were carefully cleaned with glass bead blast material.

You can definitely borrow the book. :)

Hi. Yes, but recently it seems brake cleaner has started to contain the same ingredients as carb cleaner, notably the acetones, MEK, tuelene, xylene and other aromatic carbons that work so well as solvents but deteriorate plastics and rubber. So be careful no matter what you use, and if possible, try to get a brake spray with the least of these ingredeitns, and whatever you do, avoid cleaning plastic and lacquered surfacces with products containing acetone. :)

Your new site is looking very good Mike but, I am saddened by the fact you moved to Arizona so much further away than the 84 miles it used to be.
Anyway, best of luck to your new shop.

With roads like that nearby it would be easy to knock off work early and go for a ride.
Congrats on the new digs, Mike.
