Newbie, first advice question!

Well, I cleaned the old solenoid up, no joy, got a new one fitted and works good as gold.
Now some more advice needed, I took the bike for an mot today, and it passed but, this was the first time I had actually ridden the bike!
When slowing down the revs stay at around 3k and, to get them down I need to get in a low gear to force the revs down, IYKWIM? could this be an air leak in the carb diaphragms or elsewhwere for that matter?
Oh and, the swingarm seems quite stiff with shocks removed, another known problem?

You likely have a carb sync issue and maybe still some plugged low-speed circuitry. Better have a closer look at the swingarm.

You may have the original plastic bushings in your swingarm and yes they are a known problem.
After you go in for an inspection as Dave suggested, you may want to swap them for these bronze units.

Those bronze bushings are a quantum improvement. If you can press them in, as opposed to pounding them, mo bettah.

Lot's of grease and gentle tapping worked for me.

Thanks for the replies, I hope to get the swingarm out today, will let you know what I find.

I also recall putting the new bushings in the freezer an hour or two before install.

So, today I removed the swingarm and, lo and behold it has bronze bushes! but, they were obviously assembled without any grease whatsoever! so I drift out the spindle, clean everything up, reassemble with lots of grease and all is well!!!
