Looking for my dad's CBX

Post by gpracing »

Hello everyone! I joined the forum in the hopes that someone out there may be able to help me track down the CBX that my dad used to own. It was a complete custom bike that he built to compete in road racing. My father raced it on the east coast (Brainerd, Bridgehampton, Daytona, etc) of the US in the early 80's. Has anyone seen or heard of it? I'd love to know where it is these days. I've included a picture. Thanks for any help!

It would be great to see more photos or info on the bike.
Maybe try posting on the WERA or AHRMA sites as well. https://www.wera.com/
Good luck with the search.

Thanks. I'll post some more pics soon. I don't know a lot of the details on the bike. He built it from street, fabricating all of the go fast parts and fiberglass fairings from scratch. He raced it with AAMRR (sp?).

Man, this is disappointing. I imagined posting here and having someone see this bike and instantly know of it and where it was. I figured it was pretty special and rare to see a road-raced CBX.

I'll try to remember to scan some other pictures this weekend, along with a commentary about his bike in Cycle World.

Hello Nils, thanks for the interest. His name is Henry Cole. I'm doing this search without his knowledge, so I'm sure he'd be able to offer some more insight about where it was sold, but that would be letting the cat out of the bag.

Oh you are a good man. Wish I could help more specifically. Why don't you investigate these links, if you haven't already. A lot of old racers are only too happy to revisit glory days *cough*, and I'd think you might score another lead among the older AAMRR guys.

Lastly, you might ask your question over at CBXWorld, and also on the "Brewer List". Links to both of those are in the first link I posted: http://www.cbxclub.com/resources

Good luck, sorry we haven't been much help so far.

P.S. I don't know why this didn't occur to me sooner - Do you know who Jerry Wood is? If the bike hit an auction, it's possible it passed through his hands. He also knows EVERYBODY in racing and in vintage motorcycling.

See if you can speak with him, I bet he gives you some killer leads.
