Smokey Mountain Rally 2015 Fontana Village
Here are the first news from the 2015 National Rally in the Smokey Mountains.
The early arrivals who were here Wednesday night, got together for a ride after breakfast on Thursday.
Unfortunately, the rally was over for Diane and Dave McMunn who had to leave for Nashville as their son was hospitalized with symptoms of a heart attack!
Let's hope everything is O.K.!
We went east on Rte 28 (one of my favorite roads down here) to 19 to 441 to the BRP. Blue Ridge Parkway
We stopped for dinner in Waynesville - unfortuntaely we got split up - and then found our way back to the resort through some rain showers.
It was a Prolink event so far!
Back at the resort, Louis and his son had arrived. Louis on a black Turbo and his son on a black naked Prolink.
Stay tuned

Well, things have gone from difficult to impossible here. Susan just got back last night from a sudden trip to Tampa, escorting her 90 y/o mother and 91 y/o uncle to a funeral. While they were down there, we got news that a 67 y/o cousin had passed in his sleep, funeral tonight (Friday).
At least it looks like you folks are having a nice turn out. Enjoy the back roads, and stay away from the squids.

Either garage is too small or we have too many bikes. Or Momma's car needs to go outside.

TThursday, we split into 3 different groups due to different desires regarding routes and departure time.
One group rode a loop from the resort, to and over the Tail of the Dragon to 72 to 411 and on 360 to Tallico Plains.
Lunch at a cool little diner that Louis knew and then back over the Cherahola Skyway. No rain!

And So It Was, That We Came To Travel
Upon That Road That was Curvy And Narrow....
Today, the rally is over. Some stayed a little longer on Sunday, but by now, everybody should be back home - or almost.
Before I post more pictures, here is a little recap:
we had a total of 25 CBXes in attendance.
19 of these were entered in the bike show on Sunday.
In addition, we had several members riding in on other bikes.
Thanks everybody for coming and helping to make this a great event.
In particular, I would like to mention:
John Davis, as the ICOA's new Membership Director, he was available to those who had questions about membership or how to become a member
Jan Ringnalda, for putting everything together and especially organizing the bike show
Bill Brint and Louis Mintrone for not only providing parts, components and even whole bikes to support the CBX community but also showing their passion by personally attending a meeting
If any of you have any pictures, please feel free to add them here!

Re: Smokey Mountain Rally 2015 Fontana Village
All:
I made it home today solo on the 'Wing. Diane stayed in Nashville with our son as he is still recuperating. Heart issue seems OK now, but he is still very dizzy and light-headed - maybe something to do with BP spiking to 248/120? Had an MRI of his head today just to be sure about anything there - no results yet. Stress test tomorrow and whatever else they think they need to do. He is feeling much better today, however.
Thanks for all the well-wishes, prayers, thoughts for his recovery.
Sorry to have missed all you other folks, but life happens. Look forward to seeing many of you later this year!
Dave

to remember that your objective was to drain the swamp !!
